Motor City Cruise and Detroit Pistons two-way player Jared Rhoden was awarded the NBA G League Player of the Week, the Cruise announced today. Rhoden is the second Cruise player to receive the honor in the franchise’s young history. Saben Lee was named player of the week when he was with the team in 2021.
Rhoden scored a career-high 36 points, 26 of which coming in the first half, during his first game with the Cruise this season in a win over the Grand Rapids Gold. He averaged 27.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting 55% from 3-point range in three appearances throughout the week.
The Cruise are off to a 4-0 start with Rhoden serving as a major piece to each win. He has started each game and is averaging 37.5 minutes per game. Currently on a two-way contract, he is eligible to suit up for the Pistons as the organization needs. He has already appeared in five NBA games this season.
After a road win in Iowa Monday night, the Cruise travel to Indianapolis to play the Mad Ants Wednesday before returning home to play the Cleveland Charge Friday. Rhoden is expected to appear in both games with the Cruise unless the Pistons decide to bring him up for additional support while the team continues to deal with injuries.
